Great video. Labor costs are very high. I recommend younger people to go into the trades and skip college. My family had a new front porch (brick and cement) put in for 5,500. We’re dealing with old knob and tube wiring which will be close to 40k to replace. Many of previous homeowners across America did not do maintenance on their homes or tried to fix themselves and they did it wrong. Now having to hire contractors to do the job correctly. Big jobs on homes to include electrical, roof, foundation repairs, major plumbing issues WILL set you back tens of thousands of dollars with contractors. Good luck out there everyone.

My rent is 950. For the fun of it, I looked for a 2 bed, 1 bath house that was around the same size as my current place. The house was 170K, and PITI would be around 1110 with a VA Loan, putting nothing down. Eh... I'd rather save the cash and headache. I have margin to pay more than that for a mortgage, but why extend it?

I paid off my home in 2016 after 15 years. Before that I had a bank lien on the house. The kitchen was outdated and bathrooms were outdated. In 2016 I waited when the bank lien came off the deed and I dished out $25,000 to remodel the bathrooms and the kitchen. I simply refused to remodel a bank’s house when the bank had a lien on it. Why? I got spooked in 2008 when I lost my job and I thought the bank would take the house. So why give the bank a new kitchen and bathrooms?

With contractor costs skyrocketing, I really encourage people to learn how to do their own plumbing, electric, painting, and other forms of maintenance. I have completely rebuilt my home over the past 8 years and substantially improved the value of my home. Just watch lots of UA-cam videos to learn how to do your own work maintenance.

My GF hated her position so she applied to a few other companies. She didn’t even get a call back from any of them. She’s been with the same company for over 10 years and really didn’t want to leave but a position she liked miraculously opened and they offered it to her. Still took about a year though.
